What's Wrong with MTTs on BetOnline?

I have been playing on BetOnline ("BOL") for a few months, mostly playing MTTs. I moved there because I was sick of ACR for many reasons (DDoS, eternity-long late reg periods for micro tournaments, terrible payout structure, and just bad results) and needed a change.
From the time I started on BOL, I was absolutely crushing it. I had hidden my ACR sharkscope because it was so embarrassing; my BOL sharkscope is (or at least was) gorgeous. Similarly my PT4 graphs suddenly looked good. I was relieved that maybe I wasnt actually a fucking donkey after all. I was making final tables consistently and booking actual wins, not just scattered mincashes and the occasional deep run.
A few weeks ago, BOL changed their tournament lineup. Right at that time, I suddenly started losing money consistently. I don't know exactly what changed, and I'm trying to figure it out. I have some theories but really don't know. I just feel like something is off.
First though, I want to address the possibility---or even the likelihood---that this is simply variance (because I know that will be 100% of the comments if I don't address it). I do understand that it's very possible that (1) my sudden meteoric success was just disgusting rungood and I actually suck and/or (2) my sudden downswing is just a downswing, git volume idiot. Both these things are at least partially true if not the entire explanation.
However, I have been playing basically all day most weekdays for a few months and I have ~43k hands on PT4, which is probably under half of my actual volume (I play on the phone app a decent amount and didn't have a card catcher at the beginning). I have put in decent volume (yeah yeah, herp derp come back when you have 1M hands idiot). And more importantly, the shift was very sudden and it happened exactly when the tournament lineup changed, so I have a suspicion it might be related. In fact that's sort of the point of this post: I'm here to figure out if something is different and to discuss some noticeable issues.
Second, this is not a "BOL is rigged!" post. These are structural issues, not actual RNG problems. If you think BOL is out to get you, then you too have met the Bovadian Elves that live under the table and control the runout for maximum butthurt. Sorry to inform you that their scheme is applied to everyone equally.
Third, even if my downswing is simple variance or me suddenly getting worse at poker (or the pool getting tougher somehow), there are legitimate issues that warrant discussion. Here are the main points I've thought about:
(1) MTTs Are More Expensive & More Frequent: This isn't as much of a complaint as it is a potential explanation up front. Previously the typical MTT during the day was pretty cheap (like 3 bucks), and there honestly weren't a ton running at a time. Now the standard MTT during the day is $1k GTD for $11 (some with R+A), pretty much hourly in the afternoons. The $11 level previously was a freezeout with a shorter registration period and a lot smaller fields. Maybe I'm just experiencing the effects of buying into more tourneys at a time for a higher price; but all else being equal my ROI should be the same right?
(2) The Payout Structure Sucks: I can't figure out if this is a new problem or not, but the MTTs pay out 20% of the field. That's ridiculous to me. Pretty much every poker site has a bad payout structure from what I've read, is that true? It just seems so pointless to pay 1.2 buy-ins to someone who made the top 20% in a R+A, meaning they barely make their money back if they did 0 rebuys and didn't add on. The big deal about this is that they're paying way less up top as a result. [Edit: Relatedly, I would assume that when the bubble happens sooner in a tournament, then as a result the stacks will be shorter after it bursts. Because people turtle up earlier (players who would otherwise be shoving their tiny stacks with ~25% of the field remaining), the stacks are less deep afterwards and at the final table. Is this flawed logic?]
This has been an issue since before the tourneys changed, at least I think. I won a $7500 GTD tournament ($11 R+A, and the prize pool got up to I think $8k) in June, and I only got $1400. That felt fine at the time since it was my first big win, but then I realized that was around 18% of the prize pool and only 127 buy-ins. Suddenly I felt a bit cheated. MTTs should pay the majority of the money to the top 3 players, but these tournaments have this disgustingly flat structure that seems unbeatable. Again, not sure it's anything new but it needs to change.
I think this could be related to point 1, in that with a higher buy-in and worse payout structure, it's much harder to make money. Basically you can never fire a 2nd bullet and shouldn't add on unless you're set up for a deep run. Admittedly I don't know a ton about ROI and the EV of adding on or firing another bullet; I basically just rebuy if I feel like it (too many times) and almost always add on. I bet this is flawed thinking even if the structure is decent but I'm not sure.
(3) Does the Blind Structure Suck Now?: This one is a major reason I loved BOL compared to ACR; when I got to the final table, the average stack was somewhere around 45bb and the shortest stack was usually above 20bb. Compare that to ACR and to BOL now, where the average stack is under 30 before registration ends, and everyone is just shoving or folding. I guess maybe late reg just goes longer so they can reach their overlays?
Much like raising the buy-ins, this seems unnecessary to me; previously they didn't have guarantees on most tournaments so it shouldn't matter how long registration is open or what the buy-in is.
(4) Bonus Stupid Issue---Double Rebuys: This is unrelated: some MTTs allow players to immediately rebuy and double their starting stack. But on BOL it DOESN'T allow you to simply buy in initially for a double stack. In other words, to make the rebuy (which I basically always do although most elect not to, or maybe don't even know it's an option), assuming it's the very start of the tournament, you have to wait until the first hand starts before making the rebuy. If you're registering late it's a bit easier; you just have to quickly rebuy before you're dealt in. However, once you bust, it gives you the option to double rebuy---which is exactly what it should do at the START.
In effect, this setup means the person to win the first hand cannot make the rebuy. If everybody wanted to double their stack at the start, then everybody would make the rebuy and fold the first hand around to the big blind, who then could not rebuy until he or she drops below starting stack. There are times I've folded AK on the button on the first hand because I can either win the blinds or I can double my stack. This isn't a huge deal to me because I've adapted to it, but it's still something to bitch about and that they need to change.
If anybody else on here has been on the MTT grind on BOL and has thoughts, let's discuss. Have you noticed what exactly changed? I'm planning to email them some complaints but I know it will probably make no difference.
If anybody hasn't tried BOL, don't do it unless you suck, in which case come on in! But seriously it's mostly good despite the above. If nothing else it has a great phone app (Android only at this point I think). If you're sick of ACR too, fuck em!
